July holidays are in fact special, but unusual days to give gifts.

July is Anti-Boredom Month, Picnic Month, National Grilling Month, National Ice Cream Month, Blueberries Month, National Baked Beans Month, National Hot Dog Month, California Salmon Month, Food, National Tennis Month, Read an Almanac Month, National Home Buying Month, Hitchhiking Month (not a good idea!), National Horseradish Month, Roots and Branches Month, Christmas in July, Rabbit Week (July 15-21), National Baby Food Week (July 18-22), World Youth Day, 4th Of July, Running of the Bulls In Pamplona (July 7), Spain, Taste of Chicago (June 30- July 9), WNBA All Star Game, Bastille Day (July 14, French Independence / French Revolution), MLB Baseball All Star Game (July 11), Festival del Soul (July 16), Lacrosse: MLL All Star Game (July 6), ESPY Awards (July 12), Miss Universe Pageant (July 23), Haile Selassie's Birthday (July 23, plus weekend Rasta celebrations).

*Boredom is an important sign of depression
It is estimated that, at any given time, there are 10 million Americans suffering from depression. Of these, an estimated 10 percent will commit suicide. The Boring Institute, a famed media spoof as well as a clearinghouse for information about boredom, says that, of the signs most frequently listed as indicators of depression, boredom is almost always neglected."The next time someone tells you they’re bored to death," says Alan Caruba, the institute’s founder, "take it seriously."
